You could always go Near IR. Email eBay seller AixiZ_lasers about 80mW 780nm modules for $15, they light matches and pop balloons for one cheap price. Just hook up 2 AA batteries and you can have some burning fun.

Just be very very very careful as you cannot see IR it can be very dangerous!!!! IR will definetly burn like you want and it is cheap but be extremely cautious and make sure to get protective goggles.

Go for the True DX 50. NEVER be tricked into buying a non true.

Yes. Mostly just the higher power ones though. Lower powers are supposedly better filtered.
