Hey Guys,
I'm in Australia and want to get a burning laser (Pop balloons that kinda stuff) and I want it cheap. Where can i get one? Cheap as in Australian Dollar not USD ;)

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSimo

Welcome! Your not the only aussie. I am South Australia, Things is VIC and there are a few others here too!
If you like, I can sell you a fully built one for about $85 AUD, red laser. Avg around 200mW, like, pop balloons NO PROBLEM, light matches easy, would probably burn WOOD! Takes 2 CR123 batteries, however I am waiting on parts and it would be about 4 weeks.
Or you can do it yourself. A red diode from SenKat is about $22 AUD delivered, you can buy one of my drivers from my signature for $4 (AUD or USD), or maybe check out Kenom's laser barrel group buy.
Many other people build and sell red lasers, but I am in Australia and want to make a fast sale once I have it, so I would likely be cheapest. Not saying you won't find a better deal, and if you do GO FOR IT! :)

Also if you're looking for a high power green, about half the power of my red would cost you about $360 AUD. So you see there is a BIG difference in price between high power red and green :P

So is red cheaper and stronger? :o

Oh and I prefer not to build my own...

Red is cheaper and stronger, yes.
LIke I said, if you want to wait for me, since were both aussies I can do you one for $85 ish, definitely no more than $100, if you want one now you're looking at $150 - 160 AUD ish.

Red in no way is stronger than green, a mw is a mw, color doesn't matter. Red is cheaper though.

what we mean is that it has higher powers available for similar pricing as red diodes exist in high powers while green diodes dont exist at all. :P

Blue I figured you knew that I was just clarifying for Simo.

Good luck simo on getting a laser! ;)

Hmm... Are high power reds visible with ease at night? I know green is because it's sensitive to the eye.

How far does $30 - $40 get you in australia? (Curious)....

$40 would get you a red diode and a driver, but you'd be stuck for a housing, without spending any more money. I would think (not just promoting myself) that my laser is about the cheapest you will get, assembled, or about $70 maybe for DIY. However you said you don't want to DIY, so I'd maybe see about largening your budget mate :)

DX = cheap green ($30 for a 30mW), pops a black balloon w/ fresh batteries but not much more.
I would not rate DealExtreme lasers as any more than pointers really.

I can ship to anywhere, but it will probably be like $10 since stupid Australian shipping is expensive. And keep in mind, its probably about a month before I have it done and ready to ship.

Hmmm. I want something cheap not the $80 mark sorry... :-/

Might get a DX. ANy other stores like DX but better?

First off there isn't another DX but better that stays as cheap, there are better stores than DX they're just more expensive.

Also, keep in mind that in this hobby you get what you pay for. I'm not saying for sure that your DX laser will not be good, but things tend to be expensive in this hobby. So be careful because the odds of you getting a cheap burning laser under $80 is more likely not going to happen or it will die very soon if you get it off fleabay. You I would strongly suggest waiting and saving a bit more to get a laser you'll be happy with, but if you just can't wait maybe the 50mw DX just be careful with all the IR.
