Cannot locate diode in DVD Writer TS-H652

Hi all,

I'm fairly new to lasers and such. I just acquired a DVD writer today and disassembled it to find the burning diode(s)...however, I was only able to find and extract these four components, none of which look like the typical laser diode...the round metal housing with the three leads. I am attaching pictures of what I found. Am I missing something? I followed the typical instructions for extracting what I need, but what I need didn't seem to be there...

It's a 2007 model if that helps.

Thanks in advance!

Sometimes the sled don't have the 5.6mm can diode. They contain other format diodes like black square package. It is a hit and miss with the unknown sleds.

Nowadays the red diodes are very cheap. Buy the LPC-826 diode which have an output of 300-400mW.

Great, thank you very much! I will pick up a diode directly or try another burner. =)

Guess it's worth noting for posterity that this specific model does not have the diode needed for a project like this.
