Can some one help with Multimeter!!!

OK now that i know where to point the arrow to measure the Current an that i have to have both blue dots solder together an the two red with a gap.

but first where do i put the needles (1R00) or (2001), one on each side right.

but now that i put the arrow to the right side where it say 200m above 5A an using a 9V battery "the square one." nothing show, no number but when i change it to the left upper side where it say 200 under the 500 it just tells me 7.9.

oh an then i change the red cable to the 5A an putting a needle to each side of the 2001 tells me 0.10 an i heard that its kind of (110mA)

but should i trust it.

(the picture that you see on the bottom of the MM is the one i have also the test load aka dummy, an the driver)

Hey diode,

I see you have a few threads open relating to the same build. It would be much easier for you, and us, if you can keep all the questions for this in one thread. It means you don't have to fill everyone in as to your progress in every thread and prevents members answering a query twice because they could see it answered in previous posts.

There is also an edit button that can be used rather than double posting which is not considered good forum etiquette. If you need to quote two different posts then use the multiquote feature and answer both at the same time.

This will make it a lot easier and tidier for everybody so I hope that helps.

I'm so sorry for doing that i didn't mean to upset you. an i have try the edit button but it just seen that no body goes back again I try it once, an check every day if i had any new post from other members but nothing, an when i did a new thread there were new answer new post.

You are not using your Digital Multi-Meter (DMM) correctly...

First... you need to put the Meter's scale to 200m at the 9 o'clock
position on the left (not the right) of the scale...
You will be testing the Voltage Drop across the 1R00 (1 Ohm) Resistor.
(1mV=1mA)

For Red Lasers you will jump the RED Solder Pads only... and
for Blu-Ray Lasers you would jump the BLU Solder Pads only..

hi :D

i just notice the smd diodes that follow the electrical path from negative LD driver connection through the unsoldered "red" there are only 3 for red LD test load, my test load uses 4x2N4001 !!, im just guessing that the 3 smd diodes have a higher fv, im quite surprised by that.

oh the paradox of the 6 for blu-ray, why o why did i notice the 6 :(

Not upset diode just informing. Double posts and multiple threads are frowned upon and if you didn't know that and hadn't picked up on it then it needed saying.

If you haven't had an answer in a thread for a couple of days then it's more acceptable to bump it, (therefore creating the dreaded double post), but posts a few minutes apart don't go down well when a mulitquote could work better. I understand your problem of a later edit not being read.

It is sometimes difficult but you have to think how the other members see your threads and posts. Forgive the pun but many seperate threads gives no coherence to the larger project.

Answers seem to be coming in now but some basics may need brushing up on for your part.

what about ripping a couple of jumpers from an old pc motherboard and soldering them to the "red" and "blu" and just put the jumper-cap on the one you would like to test, so to save the pads on you pcb test load board :D
 
^This would work well and is an ideal modification assuming good soldering and conductivity.
