And don't, I repeat, DO NOT, take it on the plane with you. Put it in your checked baggage (sans batteries).

The question is can you bring it back to the US?. Does it have a accession number? Did you declare it on a manifest?

Leave the batteries out... That much is for sure, when you go through Israeli security. Israel considers itself in a permanent state of war, and their security is tough. It will get hand inspected before you board the flight out of Israel.
