Can anyone find info on these diodes?

Do you think I could use a step down converter instead of hooking them straight up to a power supply, the converter will allow for constant current or voltage and won't ripple as much as the supply. Do you think it would be a good idea?

Thank you diachi your the best :) but anyway could you maybe find me something on eBay that could potentially drive this laser? It turns on at 2 -2.2 volts I think and can handle an amp or possibly more I'll try to test one with just the power supply to see how many amps it can take first though.

Take a look at LM317/LM338 constant current circuits - been used for lasers for years in the form of the "DDL driver".

LM317 is good for 1.5A and the LM338 is good for 5A. Circuit is the same for both, as are the (very basic) calculations for current set.

They are both linear and you'd probably want a heatsink for the regulators.

Well guys I got them today and they work!! They run at 2.2 volts and 1.34 amps it's a really weird number, I'm sure they could do like 1.5 I already killed 2 in the process but these burn everything! Also it's not 808nm or else the eye can still barely see them and nothing can be seen with these ones.

Be careful, they are moderately powerful IR diodes still. You won't even know you are damaging your sight until its too late. Have fun and stay safe.

Thank you! Also I always wear my eagle pair glasses so I don't do any damage, they block 800-1700nm so they should be working right?

As long as the OD is high enough, they will be fine. Have fun.
