C-mount 635nm diodes

It would be expensive for a 500mW 635, no matter where you get it. If someone is willing to invest they could probably make a pretty good 635 module actually.

"reserve not met" The last few went for around $200 if I remember correctly.

But those are 200mW, the one in the first link is 500mW.

I've been waiting for so long to find a 0.5W 635 c-mount for less than $300.
:'(

Never gonna happen.
But that 300mW looks good. Only $280. (the one in snoctony's store)

wow, those guys have a great selection of high power diodes. we should try to contact them about a group buy, good idea[/quote]

There multi-mode diodes so there beam specs won't be very good. :P

I am aware... I happen to like multimode diodes.

I would definitely (that is how definitely is spelled correctly, not defiantly- that has a completely different meaning- many people make that spelling error...) be in on a group buy.

However, according to the description in the PLT PDF, the diode is C-mount, but the picture shows a TO-3 diode...
Edit: I see that it's that way for all the PDFs on their site... so nevermind...

Where did the whole definitely thing come from. :-/ If you like multi mode diodes then you'll like them. I'm not sure if you could give it
acceptable divergence though.

Show me a single mode class IV 635nm diode and I'll show you something you'll never be able to afford.

Ha! The "definitely" thing wasn't directed toward any one person, just something I was randomly reminded of when I used the word.

Well, when I finally manage to acquire one of these diodes, divergence will be the last thing I'm worried about. I couldn't care less about the square beam profile or huge divergence as long as I can burn cardboard with a half watt of 635 while everyone else is popping balloons with 200mW of 650.
;D

But seriously, I really want one of these diodes, and a group buy would be amazing!

Oh, and snoctony also has 1W 650 diodes for a little less than $500.

How do you find a collimator and a heatsink for a C-mount?

You either buy one from a manufacturer/reseller or you make your own.
I've not come across a mount for a C-mount diode, so I don't think they're very common.

I just got a call from a guy with a swedish accent. I tried to jot down all of the laser jargon but it's tough for a noob like me :(

Here is what he pretty much said
x-y is on these lasers are extreme, large beam, can be brought down to 8x8, addition cost. SCA lense = micro lense, 42 degree to 8 degrees, + 75$ per unit.

9mm package is what we need, c-mount is not for hobbiests.

He's going to get me some prices. This is worth looking into further?

Thanks
