Well, after our director disappeared way before his official resignation date, I had started running everything at our ambulance and trying to dig through the mess of paperwork to see where we stand. I realize now why he left after just a few months.
I ended up declining the job as director as from what I can tell, the district is too far in debt to be saved. I did take an "assistant director" position but told the board I wasn't interested in being director because the district is going to die an I don't want it on my reputation.
Apparently after being told nothing was wrong for two years, they love my no bullshit brutal honesty, and asked me to take a title as assistant director to help the new one out.
I agreed, however I have put in for other jobs in anticipation of losing this one. It doesn't appear we'll have enough money to make payroll this Friday, and the IRS has begun the process of levying our bank account for $74,000....(we have 5k presently)
We are releasing a letter to the local newspaper and will be holding a town hall meeting. The board wants to do fund raisers, but I don't see raising $102,000 in a town of 3,000 people.
