Here's a news story about some guy busted for shining a laser pointer at a helicopter. Quoting the story:
When Brydge flashed his light into the sky shortly before midnight on Aug. 25 night, Wolf was able to circle back to where the laser beam had originated and light up the porch with a spotlight. Officers in patrol cars sped to the house, burst inside and put Brydge in handcuffs.
Ha ha, PWNED!

And here's what he said about the incident (also in the story).
"I was being dumb," Brydge said. "I didn't think it was going to reach. Obviously it did and the cops came. … I think it was a little blown out of proportion, but I know I shouldn't have done it. … As soon as that helicopter swung back around toward me, I knew I had done something wrong."
And I'm thinking, you're sure right you did something wrong and dumb. What a n00b he was to think he could do that and have it be ok.

Yes, many are.

Yet others keep posting OLD news. Check the date on the article. If it's not from 2012, DO NOT post it as news.

I found it interesting, and while I was aware many such incidents have occured, it wasn't until recently that I found good documentation of such incidents. But that's still documentation of incidents that happened a while ago.

I've not recently found news of ANY such incidents that had happened in recent times.
Also, this particular story really does a good job of pointing out how dumb some people can be.

Pointing a laser at an aircraft is not 1 but 3 charges, and all of them add up to about 25 years in prison, I am very careful when using lasers outside,a very high profile aircraft flies over me, I would be facing time in a grave if I hit the wrong aircraft, also AH64d pilots would not be happy to have there night optics shot with a laser one would think, and that could get you more than 25 years too. I am very careful who I sell lasers too, ppl in the area know I have them, I am sure Obama would break my ass if someone hit his plane.
