Man, that's a bummer. What current/dirver/batteries?

I just fried my 1st and only blue ray. I was doing some testing and measuring and made the mistake of re-connecting the diode to a 'charged' silicon diode/cap. I know better than this, just got in a hurry. Lesson learned. Now I'm really anxious to try and get a couple of more diodes!
I trust DDL will be posting with the blue ray GB again soon. I hope...

deadalus was an ancient painter artis and inventor, and a genius

deadalus is also an adjective sed to mean very smart, or complex

DDL do these BR have a high Vf? i'm wondering because chimo made a boost circuit for a BR and he said the LD he used had a high Vf and any LD with a lower Vf could be over-driven.

I got my blue's in yesterday as well. By this morning I had a wonderful blu-ray laser! Thanks DDL!

This is a very odd laser, my eyes have a hard time focusing on the beam and it "freaks out" most who have seen it. I love it!

I went conservative on my driver circuit and used a 33 ohm resistor between pins 1 and 2 of the LM317. I still get a nice beam, but have little chance of blowing it up. I suggest a similar approach if your running only 1 or 2 of these diodes.

So you skipped the potentiometer?

Hey DDL,

Has all the 4th GB been sent out already? Still awaiting on my 4. (I got the 4 sleds you sent for my boy, thanks!) Please post any updates when you get a chance.

There is a single axis defraction grating lens (I am guessing that is what you would call it) inside the Blu-Ray sled that produces about 90-100 dots in a straight line. Very cool to mount into a WL cap set. Produces a nice 100 dot line that fans out darn near at 90 degrees from lens. (there is also a small piece of glass that is mounted to the backside of one of the other lenses that does the same thing) Very cool w/ fog-rain, and while snowing at night, awesome!

Thanks, Joe
