Received my first tru 150mw greenie last night.  I have to admit, felt like a kid again...im 30.  Loved it!!!  My first greenie.

Question is, is a Blue/Violet beam just as noticeable as a greenie?   I have all the materials needed to make my first blue but be another week before I can start on it.

The 405nm beam will be MUCH less visible than your greenie. 532nm is right in the middle of our visual sensitivity. 405nm is on the edge. The "apparent" brightness will be different. The 405nm is still cooler than the green, but not as visible.

Peace,

I can see the beam of a 30mW green much brighter than I that of a 200mW red, and I cannot see the beam of a 100mW bluray at all unless it's really smoky.

Green is the color your eyes are most sensitive to... IIRC red is the color they're least sensitive to. The eye is fairly sensitive to blue, but 405nm is bordering on the edge of human visibility.

I get a lot more glee out of playing with green lasers, just because it's like having a ten mile long lightsaber, though bluray is a more interesting color overall.
