Blu Ray

what sort of distance should one expect out of a 100 mw blu ray in an aixis module?

I'm sorry. What do you mean by "what sort of distance . . ."?

Peace,
dave

kk cool. i was pretty sure.... but just had to hear it :-) i know ive heard about how much trouble people get in for pointing them at airplanes.... stupid stupid!! Not the smartest thing ive heard of lol

There is a warehouse about 1.5 miles from my house, across the valley. With my friends spotting scope(at night), I could easily see the dot from my bluray on the side of it. I am running an 803t @ 150mA.

It's not the best thing for pointing though. Like I said, I can barely see it 500m away in the night because my eyes have a hard time focusing on it.

I guess it because the diffraction index of your lens at 405nm is so different than most ambient light it's totally unfocused on the retina and looks like a blurry blob rather than a dot.Or if you focus on the dot , everything else looks blurry. :-/

Very true. I should have added that to my post, since the absolute ONLY way I could see/ try to focus the dot at that distance was to use the scope. Without it, the dot becomes invisible at about 1/4 mile away. The only way I can focus at distnces where I can still see the dot by eye is to make the "blob" as sharp as possible(kindof like using the sharpness control on a TV).
