i never used a blackbuck driver to encounter this,happy user of Astralist's driver(if you don't need TTL),i think it can easily be soldered with a fine tip iron soldering and great skills,i have soldered worst that this including an accidentally shorted Astralist's superdrives(1st edition) some components even unsoldered while i was trying to take of the soldering,also i managed to solder again a 3.8mm diode with completely ripped of pins.
as for the precautions i think the idea with the epoxy is great to prevent this from happening.
just to throw away your broken drivers,can be fixed for sure.
