Binocular's used for focus?

5mw isn't going to do much of anything. If you look up the latest definitions of the laser "classes" you will find out that the definition includes lasers <5mw and the expected results of perfectly focused optics (the eye) and time durations required for damage (burning).
Even if you had perfect optics under perfect conditions and a perfect 5mw you still aren't going to do much.
Take a magnifying glass outside on a sunny day for better results !

BTW. Did you know that leaving a pitcher of water on a plastic table on a sunny day can result in a melted groove in the surface that exactly shows the path of the sun from that day ?

I bought a $8 x10 monocular, the rubber eye piece fits onto the host of my 400mw 532nm perfectly, it works a treat but i suspect some of the beam is being trimmed and lost within the chainber, best thing to do to avoid that would be to buy a propper beam expander for the exact laser you have if its available.
