5mw isn't going to do much of anything. If you look up the latest definitions of the laser "classes" you will find out that the definition includes lasers <5mw and the expected results of perfectly focused optics (the eye) and time durations required for damage (burning).
Even if you had perfect optics under perfect conditions and a perfect 5mw you still aren't going to do much.
Take a magnifying glass outside on a sunny day for better results !

BTW. Did you know that leaving a pitcher of water on a plastic table on a sunny day can result in a melted groove in the surface that exactly shows the path of the sun from that day ?

I bought a $8 x10 monocular, the rubber eye piece fits onto the host of my 400mw 532nm perfectly, it works a treat but i suspect some of the beam is being trimmed and lost within the chainber, best thing to do to avoid that would be to buy a propper beam expander for the exact laser you have if its available.
