First thing, when I say best I mean the best features/quality for the lowest price. There is a simple balance.


I wanted to get a good digital camera at first, but then remembered about my desire to get a smartphone. I know there won't be a very good camera on any smartphone but we will ignore that. I haven't discussed this with my parents yet but I like to have all the details laid out beforehand so that I can win an argument :P.

What I have been thinking about: UTStarcom VX6800
C-Net Review
Verizon Wireless

If anyone has any other suggestions, it MUST be for Verizon, have Wi-Fi and a decent camera. Other things I WANT are customizable interface (Windows Mobile 6 Pro?) and a touch screen.

So... yea, what do you guys think?
 





I have been looking to upgrade my VX6600. It has served me very well and so has Verizon...well no cell phone company is perfect but at least the service has been reliable. The only thing I might miss is my display is much bigger than the one on the VX6800. But I think the VX6800 is the best phone Verizon has right now, but it is also one of the most expensive.

Yea, I know... I've done quite a bit of research already. It doesn't really mean anything though, specs are specs. Supposedly Verizon had modifications done?

I'm just thinking that the quality camera I want would be a little over $300, same as the phone ($100 off and $50 mail-in rebate=$350. I'm not sure about the transfer rebate thing... I have had my phone for over 2 years now.) The phone has a hell of a lot more applications and a pretty decent camera so it seems like a good move to me...
 
I kinda like HTC's color scheme more though.... :D


The big question is Is it worth it? I'm sure we all would love to have something like this but actually using it to its full potential is a different story... :-/
 
Well there are a ton of things you can do with a PPC phone. For example I am playing a couple of SNES games on mine. There are other emulators too. If you have never had a PPC phone before I am sure you will like it. I can't say the VX6800 is worth the money even though it is a hot phone. But this applies to so many things these days...including lasers and cameras. On the other hand I have never regretted buying mine and I can't see myself using anything other than a PPC. And I have never regretted buying my lasers either.. ;D
 
If you want a cheap one and run on sprint, the palm centro is very good if you are getting into the smartphone market.

Except it runs on the Palm OS. Windows Mobile offers many more features and there is much more software available for it. The VX6600 and Samsung i730 are going for around the same price on Ebay. It all depends on what one needs or wants.
