ive got red and green, and im looking for alternative colours. as said below build quality can be bad and power low, just alternative lasers. also im looking to spend around $30/£20, i apologise if this is too optimistic let me know in replies if this is!

hi there decided to purchase a blu ray laser, cant be bothered to make my own lol.
laser can be low power as thats cheapest (<5mw maybe even 1mw, sorry dont know anything about these lasers so they may not come this low) maybe, also build quality doesnt have to be great as its only going to be used to mess about. i suppose what im looking for is either a cheaply built one, or maybe a one someone from the forum has built and is now selling. also it needs to be HANDHELD.

any ideas where the best places, i.e. the cheapest are?

p.s. Im from the UK

lol here is the thing bro, im just like you, trying to get cheap lasrs, but you know i just learned one thing... i recently had a blu ray laser from a supplier in china... this damn supplier said its 80mw, well it is but the focus is bad... i tried tweaking it.. but guess what, still it did not give the best out of it..

try searching here in LPF and you can build your own for only 50USD

I have a couple of ps3 20mw lasers built into a 2 AAA host (will need a pair of surefire 3.6v rechargables) I could be persuaded to part with one for the right kind of money ;).... I will post a picture later.EDIT, Done!

Hey I would also be interesting in buying one of these to you. First, how much would it be? Also, with 20mw can you see the beam on a violet laser. I love my first 50mw ledshoppe green laser. But I want more :D

just to let you know, the 20mw lasers rog is selling are £20/$32(approx), beam visible with smoke, rated at 39ma.

Rog8811:
The what it can do is very simple it turns off and on with a clicky switch at the back end, it is around 20mw so you can just about see a beam with smoke. The lens is focusable, I tend to set them at presentation pointing distance.
You can get the batteries from DX
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.974
Dont forget to get a charger at the same time.

We were using these BR's in the early days and found them very exciting, new colour and all that BUT they are not bright like the ones we use now.
You will find that the laser will make things flouresce (sp) quite well and lets face it you still will not find many people with a blu ray pointer.
I can do paypal

if you dont mind me asking... where did you get these hosts?

@samsam: Sorry I want to keep the last one so I only had the one left for sale.
@TGR: The host came from ebay and looked like the photo below, they are designed for 3 AAA batteries so with a few mods the module goes inside, taking the place of one battery.

Oh its fine. Is there anyone selling a violet laser at the moment? Also, how powerful does it have to be to see the beam at night?

I'm in London too (N11/N12) and I could put you together a leadlight (Pen-style) laser. For £20 I probably wouldn't be able to use a driver though, so it would be driven with literally a resistor and capacitor. I might be able to put you together a primitive driver (linear regulator) but it wouldn't offer nearly as much protection as a LavaDrive. It's well worth investing the extra money and time and getting a "proper" build - you will enjoy it more, and get much longer life out of it!

(And based on the time you're up, are you an insomniac? :D )

hey thanks for the reply, i dont actually live in london i live in kent, just put london for ease. im new to lasers and just getting to grips with it, so therefore have no idea about building lasers lol, so your post confuses me, could you put it in simpler terms please :) nevertheless im still interested in what you can do

btw no an insomniac, just find this forum very addictive at the moment as really need new lasers :)
