Best Class 4 Green (532nm) Laser?

I just sold my 520nm Wicked Laser Krypton and would like to buy a Class 4 laser with the 532nm configuration. If I could find a 532nm Krypton above 750mW, I'd buy it.

I have been considering a Jetlaser PL-E, but I am suspicious when I see a range of power outputs range from 300mW to 800mW? Are the 300mW versions underdriven and the 800mW versions overdriven with the same diodes?

I absolutely loved the controls on the WL Krypton with the code (non-key) activation and the tactical off/on instead of a "touchy" momentary switch like I see with the Jetlaser and even the Optotronic lasers.

Any good suggestions for a tight-beamed 532nm Class 4 laser over 500mW with accessories including a compatible beam expander?

I own an older J/L PL-E 445nm laser, and it has both, a constant on/off side switch, and a momentary button; pretty sure the Pro's are the same.
Looking at J/L's site, it looks as if they still offer a code switch option, or a regular mechanical switch.

You could PM/email Gray at J/L for detailed diode/driver info.; many members have these units in all the ranges from 300mW to 800mW+ , most are very happy with them.

Don't personally own a jet one but I've always considered them top notch for a 532nm. Have a few class 4 532nm and they are very serious beems. Fine choice if you ask me.

one drawback of PL-E pros is the size. they are huge. no two dpss lasers will behave exactly alike. I would imagine that it's possible that two units close in power, say 700mW and 800mW might use the same diode, one just came out more effecient, but for big differences in power I'm pretty sure a different diode is in use. overdriving a dpss laser doesnt always mean more power like with diode lasers, due to other factors like crystal temp and saturation, etc

here we go, from wikipedia:

"In other words, a green DPSSL using a 2.5 W pump diode would be expected to output around 500-900 mW of 532 nm light."

note that the divergence of the pros is not as good as others, but that's the beauty of the 10X beam expander.

my pro has a tail key for arming, a momentary and a constant on switch.

I'm not sure what you mean by then. The Optotronics RPL-260 I'm trying to sell has a 16 position tail cap with a constant on switch on the side. No key at all.

If you want the best of the best get a JetLasers PL-e Pro 532nm, 800mW with 10X beam expander ----can be ordered with Continous Wave for Mechanical Switch on body or , Continous Wave plus Pulse Mode for Code Switch.

Power to the unit/ standby on/off is can be either tailcap push button clicky switch or mini security barel keyswitch on/off

They will make it any way you want it--can be black Mil Spec finish or silver mil Spec finish

All JetLasers 533nm have built in good IR filter so when they say countinous 800mW --it means 800mW of 532nm only no IR included-minimum output ---the build always overspec so after years of use the laser will still be the stated output purchased.

Email Gray and ask him anything you wnat to ask--his customer service is the best in the business --- way better than any by any oter maker in China---is like best WEatern nation customer service. Email him he will not bite ---JetLAsers like nothng better tha a happy customer who feel the got something of value that they enjoy for hard earned money spend. JetLasers is not about just $s like mosrt Chinese companies--was founded by laser enthusiasts engineers who love what theydo and the do it with honesty and integrity--they will even go so far as to pay for shipping if there is a problem and the unit needs be return to them for any reason. Also and nobody else does this---if you are not 100% happy with what you bought you can return if for exchange or a full refund. Truth is nobody ever returns a JetLaser. See: PL-E Pro 532nm Green Lasers

Email Gray at jetlasers@gmail.com Tell him you are a member of LPF and perhaps he will give you an amount off web site prce or free goggles or something. He is a great guy to work with.

Yes go with Jetlasers from what i have been reading here since i joined they seem really good the lasers look well built and they offer also good customer service which many sadly dont. and for a 532nm laser u want a stable one well maybe not stable compared to a diode but if buy a dpss then i would go with jetlasers today without doubt.

Another vote for the Jetlasers 532 800mw. I plan on being buried with mine. I want it in the afterlife. :)

Well...it looks like Jetlasers wins by consensus. I definitely like the features on them. I might order one in the near future.

However, I decided to buy a 2014 WL Krypton (~750mW) from an eBayer. Has the powergraph and beam expander (plus 2 lens kits), so I decided...why not.

Thanks for the input, guys! :)

my ple-pro is my most prized laser next to the 1w 520. Gary will happily answer any of your questions very quickly

Thanks for your recommendation on Jetlasers. I was a bit turned off by the loss in translation. I asked if I could customize a PL-E to have NO momentary switch. They said that's possible, but only by making the existing switch inoperable. I then replied to just leave the switch function intact. However, he (Gray?) did not comprehend the mind change and I just cancelled everything.

The PL-E pro have both a momentary switch, and a constant-on switch. I find having both isn't a bad thing, one can be used for burning and the other for pointing :)

Now this thread is starting to make my head hurt. I'm sure Gary understood what you sent, he was just taken back by the request or question!

No kidding, no less than 8 recomendations (if I counted correctly), for J/L PL-E's.
I assume he was communicating with Gray, although I guess there may be a Gary at J/L, and yeah he probably understood the question, he just doesn't get a lot of requests to delete functions. :)

I agree 100%, having a momentary switch doesn't require you to use it, it's just a plus, and a nice one!
