I am planning to build a multiple diode 650 nm (4 or 9) lab laser based on a single heat sink with multiple holes to support the can style diodes. I need a good source for the diodes and a glass focusing lens for each diode. I do not need drivers or lens mounts. To make this work the lasers need an output that has a consistent angle relative to the heat sink flange. Any idea on the magnitude of this potential variability.

Search for the LPC-815. For lense, the aixiz glass or acrylic for red should both do fine.

I agree with grix on this one you're best bet is an LPC-815 sled for the diode.

i myself would rather go for the LCC diode, its much less susceptible to dying from touching the die (common for newbies) as there is a can around it...

stuart ;)

Thanks for the recommendations. I plan to use 9 of these diodes and the LCC would be best if safer to handle, but 9 sleds are kind of a drag. Any ideas on a source of new or extracted diodes? Also will a can have any effect on the pointing consistency of the individual diodes in that the resulting grid of 9 beams should be as co-linear as possible
