Beam diverging lens?

Hi.

I'm putting together something where I need two lasers (red and blue) to each diverge to 1m diameter over a throw of 5m.

Any thoughts on a suitable lens? I'm thinking of using C Mount CCTV lenses. Would that work? 25mm seems about right. And should I be buying something with a fat beam?

Thoughts?

Cheers!

Do you care if the spot is round or a broad rectangular stripe? If you want it to be round, maybe a 532nm DPSS green laser you can defocus is all you need.

well, there's a lot unanswered here...

i see you posted another thread about this but didn't get anywhere, avoid giving up on threads in the future, just add more info and if you need post again if anyone else can help.

i would reccomend these two lasers: https://sites.google.com/site/dtrlpf/home/diodes/450nm-pl450-diodes for blue, and this one: https://sites.google.com/site/dtrlpf/home/diodes/mitsubishi-635nm-110mw-single-mode-diodes for red.

they are just modules, so you have to wire them up properly and have them set to the correct current for the desired output power. however, they do have adjustable focus, which means you can focus them and easily make them diverge to the size you need yourself.

this is not safe, and i don't really recommend it becuase of the point-like source of the light, which makes vision damage more likely.

If these are going to be where someone could look directly into the beam or at the laser output, the bigger challenge is to find low enough power ones you can de-focus.

or he can just ask DTR to set the drivers to a lower current and underdrive them, i can see a problem there.

is there a required light intensity for this project?
