Beam Divergence of Sanwu High Power Diode

I’m trying to buy a 445nm 5W laser from a Ranger host in Sanwu and the forum said 3W and 5W and beam divergence are very different. How is this different? What power laser should I get? Any advice! plz

It depends on the diode but most of the higher power multi-mode diodes have pretty terrible divergence. A beam expander will help quite a bit though depending on exactly how far you're trying to point.

Yeah anything at or above 5 watts will have terrible divergence as the emitter face is wide with respect to the fast axis.
