Battery help!

SO! I have recently ordered from sci-fi lasers (100mw 520nm) and need help finding some reliable eye protection and batteries. I need some 16340 batteries but could i use Duracell 123's? or other brands sold in the UK such as Panasonic?

I have heard Eagle Pair are great but could I go cheaper and still as reliable?

Don't touch the Ultrafires with even the longest, most filthy, disposable bargepole. If you look up "crap" in the dictionary you will find a picture of some Ultrafires.

I recently bought these from this eBay seller in the UK

2 x TrustFire TF 16340 CR123A 16340 3.7v Li-ion Rechargeable Battery | eBay

They did test out at over 600mAh, and so far are the only "proper" Lithium cells I've tested in that size. (And protected, bonus!)

Next question - what are you going to charge them with?

I see that charger can be for got £3.83 on DX. Skimping on Li-Ion charges is like skimping on brakes. The cells are very sensitive to charge voltage - 4.2V is fine, 4.3V is risking it (fire, explosion).

Sorry to rain on the parade, but I charge mine with a multi-chemistry rc charger with crap charger tray soldered to banana plugs leads.

You can get one of those cheap-ass red laser enhancement goggles. They work well for green lasers.

The problem is that the red filter is such a pain in the ass to look through you won't want to wear them. This is why most green-filtering goggles use orange-colored filters, rather than red. Those goggles above are also uncomfortable, and break easily.

But you get what you pay for.

One benefit of those Eagle goggles is that they're also good for protecting against 445nm, so it's a good investment. Also keep your eyes open on eBay for "ARG" or "ARGON" protecting laser goggles (orange filter). I've bought some certified laser goggles that were only like $15 or so on eBay.
