Bare HeNe W/ 12V PSU

Looks good, i msg ed him asking if he ships to Aus though, it says just US and Canada.... ::)
Nice find.

With these He/Ne, what sought of output would you need to have a visible beam, slightly visible in a dark enviroment that is, nothing outrageously bright.

With these little HeNe's you cannot expect much of a beam. These are usually bought as a collectors item. They are very cool to look at and interesting to learn about. With my first one, I just stared at the plasma in awe to see a laser beam coming out of it. You can see the beam with some sort of visualizer in the air, but it won't be visually impressive.

Peace,
dave

No worries yer would love to get one for the collection, and these little things started the hobby for me
always wanted to build one.
Also the ruby pumped lasers untill i found out what the most important part was, The Ruby rod-most expensive... ;D
Thanks

I'd buy it but I already have a nice little HeNe. The beam isn't much to look at in terms of brightness but damn is it ever a thin beam! The beam quality of a gas laser like that just blows laser diodes away.

See this comparison shot of a red laser diode, DX green pen, home built blu-ray and the HeNe beam, which is between the red and green beams. I'm still amazed at how thin and collimated it is.
