Ok, I found a tube labeld arctic silver in my garage.
I have bean hearing about it a lot here so, what do you use it for?  :-?

I don't...I do use the AS thermal epoxy for mounting my lab modules to my TEC's.

If you are mounting a heatsink onto an aixiz module it would not work as a good heatsink if there were to be any airgaps.....the arctic silver takes up the gaps.

Well it is debatable.. ;D As tight as the diode fits in the aixiz modules I don't believe it helps any...IMO of course. Now I can see using it in flashlight mods..using it between the module and a heatsink.

Well the artic silver past is not going to do much but make a mess of things. You want to get some AS Epoxy. The past does not harden and if you drop or carry your laser around in your pocket you will eventually end up with a module and diode coated in it. Also it needs to be applied in a manner where it is compressed between two surfaces for it to work right. So pumping it into empty spaces wont do much.

Now what I did last time I mounted a diode in the module is take the AS Epoxy right after I mixed it so it is still runny and put a tad in the back of the housing. It seeped around the diode and came out the front just a tad and made this nice little bead around diode. Going to make it a little harder to get the diode out when it dies but I can deal with that later hehe.

Agree with Gazoo it is not to be used for inserting the LD as that is a really tight fit anyway. The trouble with the Aixiz modules is that they are not parrallel, they taper from both ends to the largest diameter where the parts screw together....I chuck mine up in the lathe and turn them down but if you dont have access to a lathe you need to take up the gap somehow.
If used carefully arctic silver doesn.t need to make a mess as long as you are only trying to take up small gaps and should you need to take the module out for any reason you will be able to do so. If the gap is more than a couple of thou's then epoxy is the route to go.
