Hello folks!
I've recently been presented with an opportunity to purchase a 561nm laser - however, given the steep cost, I wanted to know a bit about how the color looks.
I've heard that it is just like the color of those LED indicator lights... is that accurate?

Is the color noticeable different from 532?

Is it more green, or yellow?

:thanks:

I saw one at nwlem last year... it was a weird kinda snotty color.. Def can tell the difference of that and 532. Almost a complete blend of yellow and green. You cant really explain it though.. interesting color

You can definitely notice the difference between 561nm and 532nm. 561nm is a color that really wants to look yellow, and doesn't quite make it. I would best describe it as a greenish yellow color. Kinda like how 532nm wants to look like a pure green and doesn't quite make it when compared to a 520 nm.

I'd say it's quite interesting wavelength. For me, the perception of the color depend on lighting conditions. It definitely looks more yellowish at night.

It has the same color of the LED indicator on my z-bolt pointer.

This picture shows it next to 520nm.

pictures don't do it justice But the above picture is close. I agree with Razako Its a wannabe yellow It really depends on whats next to it.
The only way I can describe it is Slighly more green than those green ish Indicator LED's but more yellow at the same time I know that contradicts itself but that's the only way i can describe it.
Honestly if you want my advice If you have an opportunity to get 561nm TAKE IT !!!

You know you can easily google the wavelength. Wavelength to RGB / HEX Calculator
The color is a shade of chartreuse. Since it is about 15nm from a true spectral yellow it will appear more yellow than than the wavelength color of 532nm

Steve, I understand that I can google it, but a computer cannot really describe the color.
And I've seen that thread before, but thanks.

In this case Google would give you more precise information than that provide by members descriptions. The color name of 561nm light is chartreuse- yellow. See for yourself.

I believe this type of street sign presents a rather accurate color of 561nm light. They are common throughout the USA and you may have seen them already.

this too does a good job. https://academo.org/demos/wavelength-to-colour-relationship/

Firefly color, coming from an ex-owner.

My Review did its best to match the actual color. Photos were edited since most cameras will not pick up the color right.

Hi Sta, you've probably already seen this thread, but it's one of my favorites regarding the 561nm wavelength, it was made by aryntha, it's a good read!

CNI PGL-III-C 561nm 20mW Review - A New Wavelength - PICS

Thank you Bowtie.
I have indeed looked at that thread; furthermore, I've looked at almost every PGL-III-C review on the entire forum. The first time I held a PGL-III-C I knew I had to get one.

If all goes well I will have bought a 561nm 30mW PGL-III-C in a few days. :D

Enjoy your 561 :) A lovely wavelength to experiment with during daylight hours.
