Anyway to know which pin on diode is negative and

without using a multimeter or something like that? My parents don't really want to spend the money for that.

Is it always going to be as this picture shows it? I got it from somewhere on this site about a week ago. I don't really remmeber where ^^"

I don't understand why your parents wouldn't want to help pay for, or allow you to pay for, an educational device like a multimeter. They're not even that expensive for basic functionality.

Do a search for some "pin diagrams" on the site and they'll show the pin diagrams for specific models. You can't tell just from a photo.

Same question i asked about 2 weeks ago  ;D
for starter a multimeter is about $5 bucks from a discount shop.

Secondly it all depends on what diode your using. Is it a Red open can diode? xbox blu ray diode? KES-400a diode?
they are not all the same. some have 3 pins, some have 4 or 5, but you only need 2 out of them.
