I was given a few rolls of magnesium ribbon (seven 75 foot rolls) by a friend and the novelty of burning it seems to have worn off, so, If there are any Canadians interested, I'd be more than willing to send you some (a few feet or so)... If you are under 18, you will need to have parental consent (An email from your parents will suffice).
Canadians only please, I have nothing against other countries and such but magnesium ribbon seems to be particularly hard to get here...
thanks
EDIT: Limited quantities available due to the demand. This will operate on a "first come first serve" basis.
FYI, everyone gets the same amount to be fair; I do not play favorites
Doesn't really make a difference. In the USA you can buy stuff like this at your local corner store
Here in Canada, it's very difficult to find this kinda stuff. Heck, it took me almost a year to find a source for nitromethane (I homebrew my RC fuel).
Maybe 50 years ago! With our current administration, you have a hard time buying powdered sulfur without suspicion of being a terrorist! (By the way, you can get magnesium wire at www.unitednuclear.com.)
Re: Anyone want some magnesium? Canadians only ple
There is a way for anyone to obtains a 100lb block of magnesium. When I was around 16, I was driving past a contruction site, I was into car audio at the time and looking for large diameter PVC scraps. I found a cardboard sonotube, and the damn thing weighed at least 100lbs. It also had a wire sticking out of it....???
The next day I drove past when the construction crew was there, so I stopped and asked one of the guys what those were. They were electronic noise surpressors, made of solid magneseium with a coil or something in the center. Basicly the same thing found on a cars ignition system (older point system) to remove the irritating sound heard on the cars radio when the motor is running.
It would take a pretty big hammer or vice grips to make a ribbon from it though I still have one of those tubes in my garage at my parents, and many file markings on the block

Unfortunately, United nuclear does not ship to Canada I managed to pick up a few bricks of rimfires at wallyworld a few months ago. Yes, me a foreigner, buying ammo without even showing ID...
Wannaburn: Don't even get me started on my trashpicking adventures ;D . When I was about 14, me and a couple buddies came across an old box of firecrackers. My guesstimate, probably close to 2000 of them on the string; you could imagine what we did with them
