I have a Optotronic 532 75mw unit pen at "86mw".
I'm a bit bored and loaded now with other 532's and just don't use it.
I bought a few months after joining the forum, so its about a year and a half.
Other than the initial 15-20 minutes of play it's just been tucked away with the occasional 3 month check. Lets say 1 hour tops on use to be safe and never used anything but regular duracell's.
Still in its box and have Jack's included paper of its output.
Not a ding or sratch and just like day one.

Anyone have anything they might want to trade?:)

Good luck with your trade GSS!

I've got their 100mW model, and have had it since 2012, and it's still going strong.
It's probably my most used laser, and it's still puting out ~109mW, exactly what Jack at Optotronics measured it at nearly 5 yrs ago! :yh:

Hi,Peter. I really don't have anything to trade and I don't need another 532nm unless it is a high power labby. Just wanted to wish you good luck on your endeavor.

I can't post pic's but it's just a more or less a pen unit but just "feels" much better:eek:
I'm doing this again more from boredom and figured some members might like the spec's.
I'm just going to let this thread die out with no bumps but thanks guy's:)
Bow, I don't know why I don't use it? maby fear of being confiscated when using it outside:undecided:

Correct me if I'm wrong because I often am when it comes to the law BUT if you use good judgment on where you point it outside there very little chance of it being confiscated, What's it like by your house ? densely populated ? housing tracks ? rural ?

Outside at night IS THE BEST ! Any color beam at night just looks so awesome that even if it was completely illegal to ever turn on a laser outside no mater if it's just pointing at the ground under penalty of law I would be one big law breaker and they would have to catch me because I would still be shooting a laser up into the "empty" night sky law or no law !

Just thinking about what a laser is, a column of one very narrow wavelength of light moving more or less in a single tightly confided direction (which is something light for the most part never does coming from any source) and with enough intensity to burn through wood and that light is being projected from a small device that has it's own supply of power so you can hold in you hand (some can even fit in your pocket) and take it any where you like, Call me a laser nerd if you like BUT I just think that is so cool !!!

I really can't win where ever I stay or live..
I live now in a 14 story building with nosy neighbor's with way too much time on their hand's that do nothing but gossip and watch the news and would love to call the police "just because":yabbmad: It hasn't happened yet but knowing some people here its probably a "when". Not much air traffic here other than the occasional local Hospital helicopter. It's a shame because in this city i'm located in the highest point. It doesn't help that i'm also trying to find someone local interested in the hobby and if and when someone might "complain" the police will probably come to my door regardless if I did shine a laser or not.
When I stay in the Brookline home in MA, which is nearby to Boston its a whole different set of people of mostly snobs who will complain. Its also a bit more compact and busier of a city. I don't like putting the "snob" label on people but living there since I was 1 year old I got complaints from neighbors from working on cars in my driveway:whistle:
For me the best time is probably in the early early mornings...

Oh ya, that was you before who told me of the unfavorable living conditions for the outdoors use of lasers where you live !

Sorry, I won't forget it again !

I would never suggest that someone do something they are not comfortable doing BUT even in those conditions I would still one way or another be shooting my laser up into the night sky (Def less than I do now) and they would have to catch me doing it because if questioned I would never admit to doing it and it's their word against my, I learned long ago that in most all cases the police have to see you doing most things before they can do anything unless of course you come across that one in a 1000 cop but even with one of those I can be pretty dang stubborn and in the past I have sat in a jail cell for 36 hour for refusing to cooperate with the police before they finely had to kick me lose !!! Their mistake was thinking a jail cell would ever scare me ! lol It didn't and they lost........

Member's say to, and do bring a cheaper backup unit with them when playing outdoors incase of confiscation and being this Opto is a pen type, it looks the same as an ebay. I do always bring an extra cheapie out but it's not like the older days when I would light off fire crackers as a kid and the police would say hand them over.
These day's a usual pat down is done on anything other than a traffic ticket, and still even on on traffic ticket they will if they want. Who knows if they find a hidden nicer unit on you they can charge you with something concealed??

One thing I always do is I never shoot it up in the sky long enough to let the police track me down by it and at night I can hear the police heli coming long before they could ever get a handle on where it's located to send a patrol car plus this housing community is huge with lots of winding, twisting roads and most every road is a dead end cul-de-sac and to top it off it has 3 long lakes running parallel to each other and running diagonally through it from one corner to the other ! like a big maze so to fig out when I'm located a cop car would need to be a street or two over in the same track as mine to have a chance of tracking it down to be coming from my back yard, Heck there are 4 back yards connected to each other on the right side of my back yard and 4 on the left side so which is it coming from ? They don't stand a chance without a heli spotter telling where to go.

Even if the police started knocking on doors in the area and someone told them "ya I seen a guy standing in front of that house right there and shoot a laser up in the air" it wouldn't make any difference because I would say "nope, they were mistaken, No lasers here" and that would be that.......

All they would know for sure is "It's coming from somewhere in this area" ? And unless they get their eyes on me directly doing it they won't be coming in my house looking for a laser because I know my rights and all they will get from me is "Sorry I can't help you, Good bye" and again that would be that.......

They won't be turning down my street and I'm just standing in front of my house shooting a laser in the air, I can tell you that much ! lol

These 3w LED RGB flashlights are cheap and amazingly bright, the smaller ones zoom focus, at 7-10 dollars each they are good to have says my friend Mr. Plausible Denialability.

Understand I am NOT telling anyone what to do, but I recommend that you know and obey all local laws.

RedC,:shhh: and no wonder ebay keeps telling me "out of stock" haha:eek:
Accu, I guess you do live in a maze but unfortunately for me they will come directly to Apt 1103. Example, one guy in particular is in a wheel chair and everytime I bump into him he will tell me I have 2 months more for my car inspection sticker. He wheels around all day looking and calls the police. What pisses me off even more is he's posted as a child moles****:yabbmad: and everytime I see him I want to smash his face in. I guess the police need snitches:banghead:
Also though on the other side, its very easy to make a mistake as iv'e posted before I shined a laser down a tunnel in front of the building at 3:00AM and hit the fire station bay doors missing the window by a foot.
Its sad not to be able to enjoy but I just now do it less frequent and safer:)

Edit: accu you can use 2 16340's in the ultrafire...

Would it be any brighter or is the input regulated ? If it's pretty much close to the same I have 20 18650 Li-ion batteries for it.....
