anyone tried kratom?

I've heard of it, but I don't think I want to try it...

It may be legal, but there are other substances that are more effective, safer, and non-addictive, like say, marijuana. Kratom is addictive and leads to physical dependence. It's not well studied and no one knows what its side effects or long term effects are... I just wouldn't risk it. At least marijuana has a 10,000 year history of completely safe use. It's been studied extensively and proven completely safe over and over. No one has ever died from it, no one has ever gotten cancer from it, no one has ever gotten brain damage from it, no one has ever gotten emphysema from it, etc, etc. It's mildly psychologically habit-forming, but so is chewing gum. Without fully knowing the risks involved with a drug I'll never allow it in my body... This goes for things my doctor prescribes me as well... Kratom is just too poorly studied and documented for me to try it. Plus I'm not a big fan of addictive substances.

Hmmm...
You somewhat like to praise marijuana?

Nah, I wasn't praising it... You'll notice I never said anything particularly good about it, never ranted about its virtues or benefits... I was simply pointing out that just because kratom is legal does not mean it's safe, and as an example I was mentioning marijuana, which despite being illegal, *is* safe. I might as well have mentioned how cyanide and arsenic are legal to buy and own... It doesn't mean that just because they're legal they're safe to consume.
