Well,

It seems that DL sells the exact same hosts that LG has and since I bought both host only LG carries I am slowly being attracted to DL's lower prices(Im poor )

My question:

I know DL is an excellent company, but I was wondering if you would recommend them compared to LG? I understand they test their lasers at less of an extent then LG and that is what is the deciding factor for me.

Violet Laser Pointers : Dragon Lasers

That is the unit in question

Thank you all for the help!

Which unit? the link is a selection of them. personally, for 405nm, I'd go with a member built laser.

If I absolutely had to have a 405nm laser from a company, I'd spring for either the PL405 (500mW) in offroadfreak8582's GB ($158), or a silver finish PL-E pro from jetlasers (300mW). the price of the PL-E pro is $269 but I think there is a deal or cupon code in a thread around here somewhere. you could ask Grey and see what he says. the PL-E pro would be cool because there is the option of AC input and a beam expander., plus the host is really cool. (though I never heard of anyone wanting to expand a 405nm beam, I'm sure someone has)

the PL405 host is also kick ass, and the price is really good, comparable to member built ones.

If you're talking pens, which I think you may be, then I guess I'd try to also do some member built pens, I bet low power is possible, and is better suited to pens anyway. failing that, I suppose I'd go with DL over LG if it's cheaper.

Im only looking for 5mW Shakena.

And DL 5mW 405nm is $100

LG's 5mW 405nm is $242

Both are in the same host :)

DL is very good - but if something goes wrong, you will be paying expensive shipping to China and back ($48). IMO, the lower price is very much worth it though.

On a different note, I can get you a much better price on any laser if you are willing to buy it within the next week as a part of the diffraction gratings group buy that I am running. If you are interested, just shoot me a pm for some details.

I see, thats a lot to spend for such little power. there are also these...

LP 405nm 5-80

I'd say LG and DL are making huge margins on those pointers then

Was thinking about getting those. Don't know if they are that good of quality and if they are over-spec'ed.

Anyone have experiences with laserbtb? Their hosts do seem pretty good indeed

I agree with Shake on the Laserbtb thing. Most of their 5mw pens are about $25 - and quite nice hosts. Not as many colors, but you do have 650, 635, 532, 515, and 405 IIRC.

Yea, I think I will go with them for the time being. Anyone know if their quality is good? :yh:

I also am curious why they charge a extra $1 for a IR filter?

But I will not be buying their 532nm/635nm anyway.

There are many laserbtb reviews on the forum.

It´s already the 4th GB ongoing with many participations.

I got a laserbtb 5mW 405nm in my personal collection.
