Hello LPF,
I decided I'd post about my experience with Tinker Lasers after seeing and following this thread.
I had originally ordered a Valkyrie 488 on October 19th to test the waters so to speak. It arrived exactly one week later on October 26, just as described. Case, caps, glasses, batteries, and charger. This unit is a beast - very solid.
With my fresh discount card in hand from the prior purchase, I decided to pull the trigger on the rainbow bundle on October 26. That's 8 lasers (405, 450, 488, 520, 555, 573, 593 , and 638) and an 80W flashlight. I threw in the beam expanders.
It was around this point in time I became aware of this thread and became nervous.
After a little over 3 weeks, on November 21, I established contact with Tinker requesting an ETA. I received a reply that they would check into my order and get back to me later that evening. I was informed that the 573 was on backorder for 40 days. They offered a 425 in it's place and i politely declined.
I was also offered an opportunity to switch out the 488, as I already owned one, for one of the limited time valkyries not offered in the rainbow bundle (480, 501, or 505). Very nice offer, I thought to myself. I opted to exchange the 488 for a 501. I was informed my order would ship soon without the 573, which would be fulfilled once it was back in stock.
After not receiving a dispatch notification, I reached out to Tinker once more on December 2. They replied almost immediately saying that they would be shipping out my order the next day. I received the delivery yesterday, December 9.
The delivery included 6 lasers and the beam expanders. I received a 405, a 450, what i believe is a 480, two 520s, and a 638. I noted the 405 had gold colored housing and the 638 had a line that intersected the point on the wall forming more of a bar than a point. It's difficult to determine exactly what was received as only three of the boxes were labeled correctly.
I reached out to Tinker again last night to provide an update to them and let them know i was a little disappointed. I got another prompt response that the 555, 573, and 593 would ship out today, December 10, and that the 80W flashlight has been discontinued - they'd replace it with something else. I was told that the 638 was preforming as expected - the 638 diodes displayed this characteristic. If i didn't like it, that I could exchange it for a 501. We'd work out later returning the second 520.
Now you're caught up. I want to point out that every time I reach out to Tinker, I get a very quick and courteous reply. As I've told them, their customer service appears second to none. And the build quality of the products is incredible. That being said, we'll see how this shakes out. I'll be providing updates as they occur and hope to review what I have received so far soon.
