Any ideas why my green laser power increases

Hi, I was checking my green laser. It was 4.9 mW in the winter. Now it's varies output 7mW and maximum of 8mW. I added an IR filter and found that it returned back to 4.9mW so, probably there is IR leakage of approximately 3 to 4mW. I'm not sure if that makes the pointer danger or not. 4mW of unfocused IR seems to me not a risk since by the time my eyes blinks due to green light, the unfocused low power IR will not have the time to damage my eyes that was my observation, I'm not sure if that is true or not 😃

It's always best to have an IR filter, just in case, since usually you can't really see the IR anyways when using your laser, unless your eyes are magical and can see a brighter spot when using it without the filter. If it was me, I would still be careful with it where I was pointing it at.

A 532nm green is DPSS, they can be very temprature sensitive, some won't work at all in the cold and some have to warm up before reaching full out put.

A 520nm green isn't DPSS so it doesn't have this problem and doesn't produce IR.

Thanks, That will be my next purchase :D, I will buy the 520nm laser from laserbtb, they offer good prices and low power output < 5mW. I will ask Kevin to measure the power before shipping it like he did with my < 5mW violet laser.
