Does anyone else here go hunting?

I went out for my second time today. Nothing but squirrels and birds again.

Once I shot a squirrel with a home made airgun. I felt bad because it wasn't a clean kill, but my neighbors who I don't really know (they live in the woods behind my house in a cabin) cooked it up and ate it.

Naw, if I needed to hunt to survive, I would but otherwise, not my interest. To trophy hunt seems wrong to me, somehow, but I can't say why.

I havent been hunting for over a year now, but over the years done alot of pest control - Rabbits, Goats, Possums, Magpies etc, Hunting For Food - Mainly Pigs and Deer sometimes wild Cattle too, and twice been Duck shooting during season, Im more of a City boy now But i do miss the motorbikes, getting muddy/Bloody and the Beer afterwards while im still dirty, It feels Yukk when you carry a pig on your back and the blood goes down your Butt Crack though, Haha
I also Have a Older friend who Owns a massive wild Deer farm and Has alot of Tourist hunters pay thousands to Stay in His hut in the bush and shoot Trophy Stags etc, alot of his Customers are Americans Too

There's a place like that semi close to me. They had some clean European boar imported. Now they breed within the compound. I think the deer start around $1,500 if you kill one. No thanks. Trophy hunting isn't my thing.

Though, there is enough meat in a deer to last you for months so you better buy a large deep freezer with it :P

Pheasant & bunnies, easy to clean and good to eat :) I'll go go for deer eventually but the seasons here are very restrictive. I've dispatched a few dozen squirrels with my RWS Diana but I'd call that more pest elimination than hunting.

i used to go out shooting. But haven't in a long time. I did almost run over a deer the other night when i was camping tho. :P

I'm a hunter! I enjoy pheasant, though I may have killed the last one in my county back in '07 ;) Just make sure you can use them for meat!

I'd like to get a wild pig eventually. It's deer season right now. I've had various wild game meat over the years. Deer is the only one I've had that was hunted though. Wild turkey isn't like store turkey from what I've heard.

One time I killed a turkey with a hatchet
that I hand raised from a chick. It isn't
really hunting, I know, more like murder.
It had to be done though because white
turkies will get too big for their poor
little legs to carry them if they are not
slaughtered in the first year. I think the
thing weighed almost 50lbs! Mostly when I
do hunt, it's for electronics people have
set out at the curb.

I saw some Dall Sheep today some hunters would love to have in their freezer :)

Wondering why no snow in Alaska? There is, just not near sea level where these sheep were along the highway between Anchorage and Girdwood. Mountain sheep near sea level? Yep, when rugged mountains are up against the coast.
