You need to buy it, check if it even has a driver, and see if it's suitable for driving a diode. ;)

yes it has a driver but it has a green diode in it now and will run off a cr123a well i think it has one here is a closest that i can see of the insides but you can use a green laser driver on a red laser ?

Could you make your titles a bit more descriptive please.....

......Now to the question, Inside that green laser lurks a quite powerful IR Laser diode which drives the optical path to produce the green beam. The first thing you need to do is to measure how much current the LD draws to see if that matches the requirements of the red LD. If that looks OK you are ready to procede.

To convert it to a red you will need to remove the crystal block, IR filter and a few other bits and pieces of optical kit and finally the infra red LD......Then your problems start, if you put the red LD in the same place as the IR one was you will not be able to focus it using the screw in lens at the front of the module as it will not wind in far enough.

The new wish modules are made in three parts, I found that if you throw away the back one and mount the red LD where the crystal used to be it is possible to focus it. I don't know whether the same applies with this module.

So the answer to your question is "probably but it won't be easy"

oh i see. yes i will make them better next time. when you say ir diode. that isnt like a 808 nm that has been modifide to come out green? sorry but i am a noob and thought that the ir's where a 808nm and above anyway thanks for the info. and any you may provide. i was thinking of putting a open can in one of these but it will be some work. would be nice if i could find a green 250mw that could go in these later all.

oh one other this why is it that some of the diodes i have seen the power is what would be the ground of the can and the ground is where the power would be. i have l;ike three drives that wont work because of this and it kinda sucks.

It's an 808nm IR diode that pumps a crystal that pumps another crystal which outputs green laser light. That's how all green pointers work, it's called DPSS.To make a 250mW green out of that you would need a preassembled 250mW DPSS module which I think you would have a hard time finding, or you need to make one out of a 808nm pump diode and the YVO[sub]4[/sub] and KTP crystals (and IR filter) which is really hard anyway.Besides the pump diode would have to be over 1W and that particular housing won't provide enough heatsinking for it. :-/
I can't really make anything out of your second post, sorry. :(

no that is cool now that i know that a green laser is a 808nm that is something i never knew thanks i was wondering cause on ebay they where selling a 2000mw 808 diode. as for my second post i had tried to use a drive that i got from a laser level that is didn't use and it just sat there so i removed it from my craftsman level angle finder that i have. well it had a driver that was connected by wires instead of the diode to the micro board. it turned out that when i took two AA batteries and tried to power it i had the power wire on the post that is connected to the casing instead of the one that goes through the casing. hopefully i have explained it right. later have a great day. :)

normally ground >.

normally my power prong >. .< normally i haven't used this one

but it is just the opposite from that drawing the ground is the positive and the positive is the ground? i guess a different type of diode huh?
