Short the output leads from the driver before connecting the diode to it !
Another little advice if the heat sink starts to get warm turn the laser off to cool it down !
You're gonna fry your diode real quick if you're overplay it with the duty cycle !

I'm not to familiar with the host beside dtr sells it, but I'm assuming its not much bigger then a c6 so the downside would be shorter duty cycles and not super long run times between charging with the smaller cells. Don't get me wrong 18350's and 16340's are very typical for most builds and inexpensive so having a couple sets isn't uncommon.

Like I said before I was going into this knowing that a 30-45 second max duty cycle would be needed if using a smaller host as they are very sensitive. so as long as I know that I figured I should be fine, I just tend to second guess myself when I am not entirely familiar with the situation I am in haha.
