so i had this idea that if you were to take 2 mini maglites you could take them apart, use the battery compartment from one and the put the 2 tail caps on both ends, thus making a strong case possibly the perfect size for a pen laser, or you could do the same with the D or C cell maglites and put your larger lasers in there.

i do not own a maglite so i don't know if they would be the right size but i am sure someone could try it!

I only had one cheap plastic maglite looking thingy, but it didn't have a tail cap.You unscrewed the head and load the batteries like that.Do regular mini maglites have a tail cap? :-/ I don't think the threads would match anyway. :-/

A mini maglite is not long enough, and the threadings and inside of the battery compartment are rough and would scratch up the laser. Also, a tail cap would not fit on the other end. And to make it even worse, the inside is not wide enough to fit a laser that has a pocket clip.

But the nylon sheaths that come with the mini maglites are actually a good fit for my laser (it's a little thicker than the maglite but not as long).
The pen size lasers are a little too long for the regular mini maglite sheath, but the sheath for the mini maglite LED AA works nicely because it's slightly longer.

the mini mags do not have a tail clicky they simple turn the head to make contact.

bigger mags have side clickys
