Hi All,

i have a ALC 60 Argon laser and need a psu, can any1 advise me where i can buy one? or how else can i get the laser powered?

I'm afraid I have bad news. I have an ALC 60 head as well, and I have been searching for the past year and a half or so for a power supply to match it. Never found the right kind anywhere.

In theory, you should be able to use an Omni/Omnichrome 150 series power supply, which are more abundant. The only thing you would need to do is modify the umbilical connections because the pinout is not the same. Sams laser FAQ has that information. It shouldn't be too hard but I would not advise it if you not familiar with the circuitry of ion lasers or if you have never worked with high current circuits before.

If you do find a proper power supply be sure to let me know!

I am currently working on getting mine to run on a completely different power supply but it isn't going to well... yet. ;)

You can also use a uniphase 2114-40mla power supply. Just gotta wire up an umbilical. Really, any small air-cooled argon power supply will work then you just need to make the two cathode connections and an anode connection, and use a starter board from any argon. It seems like a daunting task but it's really not bad at all. I use my 2114 power supply for a ton of different lasers. It's great..
