Hey all,

On these laser modules you can find on eBay, that come with the driver board with a tiny potentiometer on them to adjust the power, if you were to unscrew the focus lense so all you have is the diode and it’s main lense and the light coming off of it is diffuser and blurry (no focused beam or dot just green light), how dangerous is the light coming off of the diode itself? Can you look at the light from the side while adjusting the brightness and not have to worry about any eye damage? The reason I am asking is with safety goggles on, it’s hard to see any light in order to adjust its brightness with the potentiometer.

I couldn’t find anything online or in the forums regarding this.

thanks for any info.

I calibrate my lasers using an LPM or by trying to burn objects with successively higher reflectivity

I have a LPM as well was just curious if removing the lense would make the laser “safer”
