AA to D adaptors

Given that many common rechargeable D batteries are only rated at 2000 mAH, why not use those plastic AA to D adaptors filled with a 2650 mAh AA?

Or have I missed something?

well, I have TRIED those, except using a AA to replace C cells - and it doesn't work out well I dunno if I got bum adaptors or what - but I was not too impressed with them.

You can get a rechargeable Nimh D battery rated at 12 amps. C batteries go as high as 6 amps.
