An introduction, eh?
OK...Here we go.

Born and bred on Long Island here in "good ole" New York. Married, kids, mortgage...the works. Before life got in the way of life, I was quite the tinkerer. There was nothing like the satisfaction felt when some (small or large) project made it's way into the finished column. Anyway, the kids are getting older and a little more self-sufficient and I started thinking it was time to try to get back into some of what used to make ME happy. :)
A few years back, I picked up one of those "DX beauties"...
I've used it over the years mainly for a little star-pointing with the family, but could never quite shake the "I'd like something a little more...."better-er".
On and off, I'd poke around here a bit, but something always seemed to get me derailed. Basketball practice, Karate, the dishes.... well, you get the idea.
(See above about life) ;)
Anyway, I'm hoping to use this board, your combined knowledge and advice, and any stray dollars I have lying around (see above mortgage and New York part) :p
to maybe start getting back into what seems like a very rewarding hobby. :)
Maybe I'll build, or maybe I'll buy complete...or maybe I'll just fill my brain with a little more interesting knowledge...I'm not really sure yet.
Who knows where any journey in life might lead...sometimes it's the stops along the way that make it all worthwhile.

So...as per one of the stickies which compared joining this site and proper
etiquette here to walking into a party....

Hello.

Well, here we go!
I was going to order a complete unit, but decided to go for a "semi-build"..
(Sorry Blord, but I will be back!)
Let the part-orderin' begin!
Thanks to all that have helped so far...(just about all of you that is, for all the great info on this forum)
:)
As I move along, I may have some questions...AND I'll be sure to take pics and post my progress with this, my latest venture...
