A quick question i have

Ok this is a quick question i have. its probably a pretty stupid question for you guys. but with that being said, im planning on making a laser, will the diod from a dvd player work?

nvm i realised that it is a reading laser so it would be very weak. im planning on buying that $20 red laser diod from StoneTek. i'll probably need some help though... I want it to be able to light matches, pop balloons, and cut electrical tape.

u can get one of the open can diode in my GB section for 11.50

Yeah, open can diodes are better. But be careful extracting them.
