808 nm lens?

Hey guys,

I recently ordered a 808nm 300mW laser. I also have an old 650-g-1 lens. I am wondering if the 650-g-1 lens will be worth using on an IR laser, since it is about 150nm off.

Any information is appreciated,

John

You should not have a problem using that lens. I use ~650nm coated lenses for some 808nm lasers.

But be warned: the short focal length aspheric in the 650-G-1 will capture a lot more of the diode's output, but this results in poor beam profile with multi-mode laser diodes (which I am assuming it is).

Is this laser you ordered a complete laser or just a diode?
