Good hello,
So im intrigued by NIR and IR light, with the regards to night vision and random exploding balloon
So i have acquired the following range of diodes for testing with my night vision equipment.
All these tests have been run off my trusty CC lab style power supply.
The choosen ones for hosting will be run of these Drivers
780nm ?mW 5.6mm (from CD Player)
780nm 250mW 5.6mm
808nm 1000mW 9mm
808nm 500mW 5.6mm
980nm 500mW 9mm
980nm 300mW 5.6mm
780nm
780nm ?mW 5.6mm (from CD Player)
The 780nm from the CD Player works pretty well, this video was from when it was on 100mA which is pushing the limit it i believe.

780nm 250mW 5.6mm
haven't received this diode yet.
808nm
808nm 1000mW 9mm
So i acquired some MOD9 modules from RHD to press this 9mm diode into.
The fitment was amazing, the tolerances combined with the softer aluminum make it a breeze to press in.
Wound the current up to 500mA and away she went, showed up very well on my night vision goggles.
The divergence from this diode is pretty bad, i would say a little bit worse than the 445nm diodes.
The light output is ridiculously bright under night vision equipment and i wasn't even at 50% of the claimed operating current of 1400mA.
Definitely a laser not to fuck with, it will rape your vision quite easily!
808nm 500mW 5.6mm
haven't received this diode yet, hopefully it has a better divergence than its 9mm big brother.
980nm
980nm 500mW 9mm
haven't received this diode yet.
980nm 300mW 5.6mm
Tested this one today, ive never played with a 980nm laser before so i was fairly interested in the results, i wound it up to a lil passed its threshold current and nothing, no light would show up on my night vision goggles.
So then i grabbed my digital camera, turned it onto video, enclosed it in a box with the laser and wound the current up to 400mA. This yielded no light either, so i began to think the diode may be buggered.
Last thing i tried was my trusty nokia mobile phone camera, and bam i could see the beam through the camera.

I will update these, when the other diodes come in.
Thanks for looking!
