635nm - 1st Build - Help?

I just received 10x 10mW 635nm diodes that I will play with and put into hosts.

Seeing as this is my first build I was wondering what driver I should use and what mAh to set it too.

I will be putting one of these into this host, purchased from Ray J Neal. (When it turns up in the mail)

I will update this thread with my progress.

If those 10 10mW diodes are from ebay they are not 10mW diodes.

I would not run them past 6mW.

They're not from eelBay.

I got them off a friend of mine who told me they were 20mW DL4038-025 diodes bought from Laser Diodes, Optics, and Related Components - Optima, so I'm halving that so I can give them a longer life.

Are they 9mm diodes.?

Yes they are. I'm going to purchase some MOD9's from rhd in the next few weeks.

I got them for a fairly steep price >$2000, but not the full price listen on their website.

5 minute delivery vs weeks waiting...

I didn't mind forking it over. Plus it was helping a friend out.

Might not have been the best choice...but it's EOFY so I'll get it back again in a few weeks.

For a Driver i have seen people use the ones from Aixiz. The Red Ones. Thats the ones i use.

People have used the Odicforce one as well:

Witch is essential the same driver. They use the same IC.

Either one of these drivers will work Just fine.

Thanks. I will probably try both and decide which I like better.

No pictures yet. I lost the cord for my phone a while ago and when moving I also lost my bluetooth adapter, so I can't put any pictures on my computer.

I will upload them as soon as I find it though.
