Hello,

I know this seems underpowered to some of the items on this site but I was hoping someone could tell me the relative range of a 635-655nm <5mw laser during the day. Thanks and in case your wondering I am seeing if this is a good buy for my paintball gun.

Not very far. I wish I could give you numbers but get a cheap dollar store pointer and play that should give you a good idea.

Green will be much brighter for the same power.
If you want something safe for targeting purposes, or just for a cool gadget for your gun, a 5mW 532nm laser sight would work in most conditions and would not be a significant eye hazard. Just try to keep any laser away from the face.

For use in sunlight, you are out of luck. The minimum for daytime visibility over a significant distance is ~100mW of green. At that power, it would be inappropriate for targeting other human beings.
