Yes - to the same degree DIY reds are made anyway. Only the tube and power supply came pre-assembled.

As long as you don't disturb it to much it should be fine.

After boiling the water, you should put a lid on the pad while allowing the water to cool a bit - this restricts air movement and thereby prevents gasses from dissolving back in.

There is more to making clear ice than just dissolved gasses and impurities though - it also has to do with the way and speed it actually freezes (bottom-up, top-down, outside-in).
