With an video camera you can actually see the beam itself from an IR laser

But I think 5W of IR is pretty dangerous to play with even for pros !
And it will not burn so well as you might imagine cause no way they are TEM00

my 800mW 405nm burns far better than my 2500mW 445nm single mode power ftw
