Hi,
I bought some safety glasses off ebay, these were on sale because they were not perfect, (last pair they had). But usually they charge around 60 bucks for these according to their prior auctions. Anyways here's my question before I mess with higher powered lasers I want to make sure these are any good. Now I'm not gonna point the aixiz module at me eyes ya know but I want to point them at the glasses on a desk to see how good they are at blocking red. (these are supposed to be red/ir. before I rip the module apart to put a 200+ mW dvd burning laser in there I figured I would use it to test the glasses.
So how dangerous is the 5mW laser can I safely test my glasses with it?

Oh PS: what circuit should I use to run the 5mW laser I have found data for the power and voltage requirements for the dvd burner lasers, however the aixiz module it says 3.2V 5mW now the question is does it need 5mW power or is that the laser strength and it needs 10mW or so?

5mw is perfectly safe. Just dont go looking directly into the laser while it is on. Testing those glasses with a lower powered laser first is a good idea. Just make sure the wavelengths are relatively close to the 200mw + laser or it might not be blocked entirely.

You can power one of those small 5mw's directly with two regular 1.5V batteries in series like AA or AAA. A single cell might work too. Just pay attention to the polarity. Red is usually + and black -.

well I tested that seems like they work very well I can see nothing behind the lens and what I can see is a dot on the lens and a reflected dot on the carpet.
they work so well I'm gonna need a camera to focus the beam :p
however dvdburner lasers are they in the 650 nm range?
