593.5nm 2-4mW pointer review(ish)

Hey guys,

First off, thanks a lot to Tha Greenlander (Alex) who sold me his 593.5nm pointer. It's a great unit and awesome looking color!

Now to the review, well kind of review. Most of it are pictures, but I didn't want to post this in the multimedia section as there's more to it than just the laser.

So what's more to it, you ask? Well, USPS and it's great postal service. More on that later in the review.


I've been trying to picture the laser with my dads Nikon camera for over two hours, but couldn't get a single decent picture so I eventually grabbed my phone and took a few simple pictures.

Edit: Took more time and successfully took some pretty decent photos. Hope you all like them!

Now the USPS story. Alex sent the laser to me with USPS Priority on April 11th and it arrived on May 7th. How come it took so long? Well, USPS thought it was necessary to ship it from the USA to The Netherlands, from there (where I actually live) to Canada and from Canada back to The Netherlands. Once arrived at the customs in The Netherlands, it took them nearly two weeks to finally deliver the laser. On top of that, they decided to let me pay another 21% tax and 13 Euro's for processing the package. Overall, great service.

Thanks Alex, glad you like it. Took quite a bit smoke though, my room still smells as if I burned the house down :crackup:

So, are you going to get yourself a 593.5nm in a PGL host in the future?

I contacted CNI & inquired about having it in a PGL-III-A host but was told they won't do it. There is still the PGL-III-C which costs $450 IIRC, so I'll most likely get that wavelength last.

Next up is 473 planned

Sounds good. Hope your 473nm GLP sells soon so you can get your PGL

Nice pics. I'd like to get a 593.5 (that's not an HeNe) to go with my 589 someday but they cost way too much for what you get IMO. This thread reminds me that I still need to get my 589 GLP fixed sometime.

LOVE IT!!!! I NEED a yellow laser!! I'm actually considering dragon lasers. Even if it was slightly underspec I feel I'de still enjoy it! Its just that price tag thats killin it. It is cheaper than the CNI option tough!
I really need to quit looking on this site. I got a raise over six months ago and my bank statement does not show that!!!!

I ordered a 589nm from Dragon Lasers a couple days ago. TNT says it should arrive tomorrow which is great. I'm happy with anything above 30mW, so I don't expect much from it. Sure, I could've gotten myself a CNI 80mW, but they won't ship without insurance so that laser would cost me over 1200$ because of all the taxes.

This laser has such a special orange-ish color. It's awesome. Even though it's only 2-4mW, it's still my favorite laser without a doubt.

Wow haha, that definitely looks like the same flight. Probably both shipped at the same time as well. When is yours scheduled to deliver? Mine is tomorrow. It says my package is in the Liege Euro Hub as well, not sure why as I'm like 30km away from Amsterdam but whatever. As long as it arrives tomorrow I'm pleased

Mine was supposedly shipped on 6th May. I reckon it will arrive Tuesday as it will need to clear UK customs assuming it arrives in London tomorrow.

I asked them to declare my package as 20$, so it probably won't have to pass customs. TNT expects to deliver it tomorrow, but chances are it will be a bit later of course. Mine was shipped on the 6th as well, but became trackable at the 8th.
