There is another, less impressive photo of a stock diode on the data sheet. It is a cut can 3.8mm diode. With two cords cut from opposite side of the diode flange, the height is just 3.2mm- something important for drive applications, etc.
No need to post that photo here as it can be seen on the data sheets of green and blue diodes. Besides, many here have seen it before.
