500mW red 670nm laser diode !






i'm thinking about picking up one of thise 500mw 808 cans and a crystal stack and building my own greenie

the diode + crystal would only be about $130 there is also a TO-5 diode on ebay thats 1w of 808 for $55 i'm considering.

Thoughts?
 
well i'd like it to be but given that it's going to be a homebrew setup I don't expect it to be. but I will do my damnest to make it portable
 
It depends on the experience you have, if you have built lots of lasers before, go ahead, otherwise, I would try making a diy red first
 
so far i've got 5 reds(thanx SenKat) and 2 Blurays(thanx DDL) so i've built a few. The only reason i'm thinking about it is because the company linked earlier in the thread sells the crystal stack already setup and glued for $69 so that right there solves half the problem for me. I didn't want to mess with 2-3 different crystals trying to align them.

Sorry for the thread hi-jack but I will be making my own post in the green section soon, just getting base ideas here since we got rolling.
 
If you have the money... give it a shot, but don't be too dissapointed if it doesn't work
